About the Show:
On this episode of the podcast, we sit down with Mike Anzalone, General Manager of Ozark Natural Foods in Fayetteville. Mike has spent most of his career in the Grocery/Retail business and has served in a variety of roles at the Co-op. In addition to that Mike is also an accomplished writer. Mike details what makes Ozark Natural Foods or “ONF,” as so many people call it such a special place. Aside from the fact that it is the only Co-op in the State of Arkansas, it is also completely owned and run by the owner/shareholders. There are more than 10,000 people that are current owner/shareholders of ONF.
ONF provides some of the freshest organic and certified naturally grown produce in the area. In addition to that, they have an outstanding supply of meats, a bulk foods section second to none, a great selection of all-natural vitamins and supplements, plenty of natural hair and body care products, a great plant section, and a prepared foods section that has a little bit of everything for even the most discriminating palate. Oh, did we mention the juice bar?!?
We also discussed with Mike the plans to move from their current location in the Evelyn Hills Plaza on N. College Ave to the corner of Lafayette and N. College Ave early next year. According to Mike, they are going to transform the old IGA building into not only a great grocery store but also a community gathering place.
Finally, we discussed the impact that ONF has had on the NWA community including the creation of AppleSeeds an organization that was previously featured on the podcast.
